Spirit Week 2022

Spirit Week 2022

Is there a secret to health and happiness as we age? Well, it may not be a secret, but one of the best ways for older adults to maintain a healthy, independent lifestyle is to increase the risk of depression, as well as a multitude of other health issues. However, seniors who stay active and engaged and participate in enjoyable hobbies remain independent and healthy for longer.

At Anthology Senior Living, residents enjoy a variety of choices of activities, arts and crafts and exercise programs. They also have the chance to participate in fun events planned by the communities. In April, Anthology hosted Spirit Week! This week-long event included daily themes where residents and team members could dress up, take part in games and compete for prizes. Spirit Week showcases activities that allow residents to experience community programming that nurtures the whole person – mind, body and spirit. Highlighting the power of laughter, music and other activities to enrich residents’ daily lives, Anthology Spirit Week also provides an opportunity for the public to learn more about Anthology’s unique approach to senior living.

Spirit Week

From April 25th to April 29th residents enjoyed the chance to mix things up and connect with friends, while family and friends had fun following all the Spirit Week festivities on the Anthology communities facebook pages .

On Monday, the communities celebrated Sports Day. Residents and team members dressed up to support their favorite sports team. Food and drinks mimicked what you would find at a typical stadium – popcorn, nachos and hot dogs! Residents watched games in their community bistro areas and pubs, cheering on their teams. At Anthology of Clayton View, two local mascots got in on the fun. The St. Louis Cardinals mascot, Fredbird, and the St. Louis Blues mascot, Louie, visited with residents and took pictures! Clayton View residents and team members also took part in a cornhole tournament representing the Blues and the Cardinals.

Decades Day on Tuesday had each Anthology community reminiscing about their favorite decade. Entertainers at the communities performed music from the 1950s up to the 2000s. At Anthology of Mason, residents partied to 80s music while they enjoyed specialty cocktails and homemade pizza rolls!

Wednesday was Wacky Tacky Day at Anthology! From crazy hairstyles to mismatched socks and backward clothing, team members and residents stayed wacky and tacky all day long. Activities of the day included chances to win prizes for the best dressed and games throughout the day. Residents at Anthology of Anderson Township went big for day three of Spirit Week! They made a wacky cake, enjoyed specialty sodas, ate mac and cheese pizza for happy hour and played BeanBoozled!

Thursday’s Tropical Day had residents and team members doing the hula! Party goers wore leis, hula skirts and Hawaiian shirts while enjoying tropical snacks and drinks throughout the day. Some communities even had Hawaiian dancers perform live! At Anthology of Midlothian took Tropical Day up a notch by celebrating with tropical punch and fruit, complete with tiny umbrellas! Everyone wore their best Hawaiian shirts and leis, while the community’s iN2L system showed beautiful pictures of Hawaii and played a game of trivia.

The week wrapped up on Friday with Twin Day! Team members and residents across the Anthology communities paired up and dressed alike to celebrate the day. At Anthology of South Jordan, pairs of twins had fun dressing, walking, talking and acting alike!
