I’m sure you have been aware that we’ve contracted with a few agencies to assist our care staff. We will be working to phase out agency workers, so that we foster continuity with those who provide care to our residents. We’re aware that other communities are experiencing similar issues with agency supplementation, but it is our goal to hire and retain the best staff. Thank you for your patience as we work through this.
It’s time that we coordinate a schedule so that residents can utilize our Anthology bus for their personal appointments, rather than trying to balance activities at the same time as transporting residents to appointments. I’ve asked Kari, Director of Elements (Activities), to set aside 2 days a week for resident appointments. The bus will be reserved for resident use on Mondays and Fridays. Please talk to Kari 72 hours in advance to schedule. It is a “drop off” service, covering a 10-mile radius. Please schedule appointments between 10 AM and 3 PM on Mondays and 12 PM to 4 PM on Fridays. Families may want to take loved ones to appointments, but this service is there, if needed. Implementation of this change will take place on Saturday, October 1.
Room tray delivery
We haven’t been charging for delivering food to rooms. Moving forward, we will be charging a $5 delivery charge per room to deliver room trays. Implementation of these charges will take effect on Saturday, October 1. If a resident is ill, we will consider this a temporary need and will not charge for delivery. Otherwise, delivery charges will apply. We encourage residents to enjoy meals and company in the dining room. COVID kind of took us away from this, but we are happy to return to meals with friends. Of course, if we are experiencing COVID or other illnesses of concern, we will take necessary precautions, but these changes should be temporary. For those who want to collect their meals to take to their room, you are welcome to this option.
Sign-up for outings
As there has been interest in activity outings, Kari will be having residents sign up if interested in a particular outing. This way, we can make sure it is equitable for all. If there is a popular demand for a certain outing, we’ll try to schedule two trips, if possible. The sign up for outings will be at the concierge desk.
CELEBRATING NATIONAL ASSISTED LIVING WEEK!
September 11 – 17 is National Assisted Living Week (NALW) and Anthology is proud to recognize the essential role of assisted living in caring for older adults across the country.
This year’s NALW theme – Joyful Moments – honors the assisted living staff, communities, residents, and families that come together as a large extended family to create joyful moments and special memories together. After the challenges of the past two years, this theme is especially meaningful in encouraging everyone to find happiness, joy, and fulfillment in both the big and small moments in life.
Grandparent’s Day is Sunday, September 11. We encourage the grandchildren (and great grandchildren) of our residents to reach out or visit and make that day special for them!
We are in the planning stages of fall festivities and would love to hear from you! We encourage everyone to share their ideas for events or activities with our Activities Director so that we can bring even more fun entertainment to our residents.
As always, I’d love to hear from you with any questions, concerns, or feedback you may have. We love you and want to serve you in the best way possible and your feedback is helpful for us to know how we’re doing and what we may do better.
All my best,
Executive Director, Anthology of South Jordan
